Concert Season 2010 - Sundays 2-4pm

Music on the bandstand returns to Macclesfield's beautiful South Park with a summer season of concerts by local bands and musical organisations. Sit amidst the gardens surrounding this unique bandstand to enjoy a wide range of popular music performed by hundreds of local musicians. Refreshments are available from South Park cafe which overlooks the bandstand or bring a blanket and chairs and enjoy your own picnic.

South Park is packed with things to do for all the family. A children's playground, fishing lake, fitness trail, 18 hole pitch and putt, tennis courts, sports area, newly opened skate/BMX park as well as wide open spaces to walk and stunning views to enjoy.

Grateful thanks go to all the sponsors whose contributions have made these events possible.

Silk Brass was established in 1997 and has enjoyed many contest successes at both regional and national levels.

The band has a loyal following of supporters from the Macclesfield and Congleton areas and beyond and is renowned for its entertaining concert programmes and sell out concerts.

Silk Brass also works hard to raise money to support several local charities.

King Edward Musical Society Concert Band is KEMS latest arrival, having been formed in May 2005.

Set up by orchestral director Anthony Houghton, it now gives several performances each year to appreciative audiences in Macclesfield, in the Brough Park bandstand at Leek, and at the Buxton Fringe Festival.

Beginners in the Park is now in its second year. This family event provides an opportunity for less experienced musicians, both young and old, to perform to an appreciative audience.

This year groups are still to be confirmed but will include The Moss Rose Community Band and Macclesfield Youth Training Band.

Poynton Vernon Building Society Band is a first section brass band currently enjoying regular podium finshes at some of the major contests around the country.

With a proud history spanning at least 160 years the band continues to thrive and has enjoyed the support of the Vernon Building Society since 1988.

MYBB was formed in 2005 and now has over 100 members aged between 7 and 19 years old.

The Youth and Junior bands are both active in the local community leading parades and performing at events as well as participating in a number of major concerts and contests throughout the year.

In 2006 and 2007 the youth band won an award for The Community Band Of The Year and in 2008 they completed their second tour abroad to Holland.
